No Child Left Behind State-specific Resource Kit
for School Leaders

with the Curriculum Matrix for Your State

The AYP challenges of No Child Left Behind - to have all students reach proficiency in multiple subjects - are steep, but several overriding truths exist:

  • The technological world our students will live in demands a higher level of academic competency than ever before.
  • The push for higher academic achievement has continued unabated for two decades and is not going to go away.
  • We can provide a better education for many students.

For the good of students, the education system, and our country, educators and the public need to agree on what they can accept about the intent of No Child Left Behind. While we don't know where the legislation ultimately will lead, nearly everyone can concur that all students deserve as rigorous and relevant an educational experience as possible.

This kit can help administrators move their schools closer to that end.

Two databases are included:

  1. The Curriculum Matrix for your state, which crosswalks state standards to state assessments and the Essential Skills to help prioritize instruction to maximize AYP.
  2. The Curriculum Survey of Essential Skills National Rankings

The following topics are covered in depth:

  • Accountability Under NCLB
  • Reading in the Context of No Child Left Behind
  • Implications of NCLB on Assessment
  • Data-driven Decision Making
  • Closing the Achievement Gap
  • Factors that Produce High-achieving Students
  • What Teachers Say Is Important
  • The Principal as Instructional Leader
  • What Students Say about Their Academic Success
  • Characteristics of Success in the Context of NCLB
  • Involving Parents
  • Total Solution Approach to School Improvement
  • Research Findings on High School Reform Strategies

The cost of the kit is $295.
